Sometimes I wonder what it must be like to live in a place that is less insane than the West, and what it must be like for people who do live outside the West to watch once-great nations like the United States of America fall prey not just to bad ideas, but to stupid ideas that utterly defy common sense. As Laurence J. Peter once mused: “Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.” The latest example comes to you from the Independent Women’s Forum with this jaw-dropping headline: “Study: Describing Breastfeeding as ‘Natural’ Is Unethical Because It Reinforces Gender Roles.” A sample:
It’s “ethically inappropriate” for government and medical organizations to describe breastfeeding as “natural” because the term enforces rigid notions about gender roles, claims a new study in Pediatrics.
“Coupling nature with motherhood… can inadvertently support biologically deterministic arguments about the roles of men and women in the family (for example, that women should be the primary caretaker,” the study says. The study notes that in recent years, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization, and several state departments of health have all promoted breastfeeding over bottle-feeding, using the term “natural.”
“Referencing the ‘natural’ in breastfeeding promotion… may inadvertently endorse a set of values about family life and gender roles, which would be ethically inappropriate,” the study says. Unless such public-service announcements “make transparent the ‘values and beliefs that underlie them,’” they should quit describing breastfeeding as “natural.”
So a culture that considers it perfectly ethical to abort a baby developing in the womb and pillage her corpse for research purposes apparently must reach for the smelling salts when someone calls breast-feeding natural, which it is. This is just a trojan horse for the trans activists, who have taken to inventing terms like “chest-feeding” and insisting that men can feed babies with their bodies, too. These people aren’t just making war on the “natural family,” they are battling against biology itself.
This sort of thing is genuinely ridiculous, and should be called out as such. Only people who spent far too much time in university could come up with this sort of post-modern drivel, which the millions of ordinary people who inhabit the West simply scoff at. Our “elites” have completely lost their grip on reality, and it is time we pointed that out as loudly as we possibly can. Thank goodness for a handful of sane men like Dr. Jordan Peterson.

These people need to be LAUGHED out of town. Liberals HATE being laughed at. Getting angry is their goal. It gives the FREAKS power over us and they love it. LAUGH at them and MOCK them. That is ALL they deserve.
Watching the insanity from Africa…and it is complete madness.
Did you even read the original material? This is an op-ed in a journal. Not a study. The gender issue is tagged in the lay paragraph, and the point they make has more to do with enforcing moms doing feeding than dads because of expectations that _may_ be created by calling breastfeeding natural. They cite some research, but mostly they cite where the word “natural” is used And then make baseless speculations about how it might feed into the fact that people are refusing to vaccinate. What ever you do, maitre sure to support your agenda with straw men and false equivalence. Don’t worry about irresponsible reporting….smdh
This is yet another case of postmodern deconstructionism which needs to be ridiculed and scorned then completely ignored for the folly that it is (Proverbs 26:4 and 5). A quote I read some time ago applies, “Only intellectuals and academics are stupid enough to believe this.” And we should perhaps add “…and their foolish followers”. The rest of the world knows better and has stop trusting these idiot “experts” some time ago. I hope.
It’s too bad that a former great academic journal like Pediatrics publishes this nonsense. Decades ago I was proud to publish an article in it – but wouldn’t even submit if this is the craziness they now publish.
What madness in the name of diversity. The insanity has reached ridiculous levels and the lunatics are running the world.
I think studies should say people who are offended anymore should be taken outback and have some common sense knocked into them. People are dumb!
