Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, and other stories

A roundup of news and commentary from around the interwebs.

A fascinating observation from Ryan Burge: “The average evangelical attends church with more frequency today than in 1972. 42% --> 55% weekly attendance. The average Catholic is half as likely to attend Mass today compared to 1972. 50% --> 23% weekly attendance.”

Those of you wondering what is going on with the civil war that exploded on the American Right over an interview Tucker Carlson did with Nazi apologist Nick Fuentes should read Bethel McGrew’s analysis: “Will the last conservatives please stand up?”

Samuel D. James also has an interesting take on this: “The Right’s Purity Culture Moment.”

I first wrote about Fuentes and the threat he poses to conservatism back in 2019. He is a genuinely dangerous figure. I’ll have more to say on this later in the month.

Kevin DeYoung has a good piece on what chivalry meant—and how it can be recovered: “In Search of Chivalry.

From Rich Lowry at NR: “The Malevolent Brilliance of Candace Owens.” This is one of the best analyses of Owens’ insane Charlie Kirk crime drama series that I’ve seen thus far. As Lowry writes:

“She goes into granular detail on every branch of her so-called investigation, and inevitably, if someone doesn’t answer her questions, it’s suspicious; if they do answer, the answers are suspicious; if they reject her insinuations, that is especially suspicious; and if something she says is debunked, that’s suspicious, too.”

Exactly. She’s accusing innocent people and ruining real lives in the process, as well.

For anyone interested in my take, here it is:

Predictably, the US Supreme Court declined to take a case that would have challenged same-sex “marriage”: “No Surprise That the Supreme Court Didn’t Take a Same-Sex Marriage-Related Case.”
