Vice President Mike Pence says that abortion will end in America “in our time”

If you had told me that Donald J. Trump, a man who once regularly donated to pro-abortion politicians, would end up as president of the United States and lead one of the most pro-life administrations in recent memory, I probably would have laughed at you. Scratch that, I’m sure I would have. And yet, here we are. Despite the chaos, we have reams of rock-solid judicial appointments, consistent pro-life policy-making, and even an unprecedented presidential appearance at the March for Life. Vice President Mike Pence, who is surely responsible for much of this—he’s known as the door to the White House for the pro-life movement—is confident that the Trump Administration can do even more. Vice President Mike Pence boldly predicted today that abortion will end in America “in our time.”

Speaking at a luncheon in Nashville hosted by the Susan B. Anthony List and the Life Issues Institute, the Vice President said, “I truly do believe, if all of us do all that we can, we will once again in our time, restore the sanctity of life to the center of American Law.”

“I hope you all feel encouraged today, because I know, I do. Having been in the cause all of my adult life, I see more progress in the last year in the cause of life than I have seen in public policy in all of my years.”  Pence has been a very vocal supporter of pro-life, anti-abortion policies throughout his political career…

 Speaking directly to the crowd in front of him, Pence said, “Life is winning in America, ultimately, because of all of you, and the people you represent all across this country.”

“I couldn’t be more proud of the pro-life movement,” he said, and of the deep compassion and commitment he sees in those who fight to protect the sanctity of life.

“While we have made much progress, we have much work left to do,” he admonished, so “Let us not weary of doing good.”

“I just know in my heart of hearts, that this will be the generation that restores life in America.”

As always, my outlook is not quite as sunny as that of the optimists, but on the other hand, there has been much to celebrate on the pro-life front lately. And who knows? Perhaps Pence knows something we don’t. Perhaps he knows that Anthony Kennedy is planning to resign his Supreme Court seat and finally—finally—the pro-life movement will have a crack at the last seat necessary to relegate Roe v. Wade to the trash-heap of history.
