As Joe Biden picks his cabinet, the predictions of pro-life activists regarding his abortion extremism are unfortunately being realized. The Susan B. Anthony List just released a statement in response to Biden’s choice of California Attorney General Xavier Becerra for secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS):
“Far from ‘uniting’ the country, Biden has proven yet again he is an extremist on abortion,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Becerra is aggressively pro-abortion and a foe of free speech. As attorney general of California, he continued what his predecessor Kamala Harris started by persecuting citizen journalists who exposed Planned Parenthood’s role in baby parts trafficking. Not only that, he went all the way to the Supreme Court to try to force California’s pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise and refer for abortion – a policy the Court rejected as unconstitutional. In Congress, he even voted in favor of partial-birth abortion.”
“This pick underscores the importance of winning in Georgia to prevent pro-abortion forces from taking control of the U.S. Senate. Republican senators must stand firm and stop this unacceptable nomination from going forward.”
On Twitter, Alexandra DeSanctis, who covers the pro-life beat for National Review, noted that: “Even if the GOP keeps the Senate, decisions like this will really hurt conservatives. This is bad news, for social conservatives especially.” Charles Camosy of Fordham University called the choice “an antagonistic move, not a healing move. One which now puts the norm-breaking leading to ACB’s confirmation in a different light. It also galvanizes the pro-life movement to go all-in in the Georgia Senate races. A terrible choice on so many levels.”
David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress, who has been targeted by both Becerra and his predecessor, Kamala Harris, had the most scathing take: “You argued in court filings that killing a premature born-alive infant through organ harvesting should be legal in California because muh abortion. Take several seats sir.”
As Biden continues to stack his team with abortion extremists, one thing is becoming crystal clear: His calls for unity come at the cost of dead babies.
