The truth comes out: Christine Blasey Ford and her attorney wanted to protect abortion rights

By Jonathon Van Maren

I wrote it at the time, and evidence has now emerged that I (along with many, many other pro-lifers) was right: The attempt to torpedo Brett Kavanaugh’s appointment to the Supreme Court and destroy his life was all about abortion. According to a new book by the National Law Journal’s Ryan Lovelace titled Search and Destroy: Inside the Campaign Against Brett Kavanaugh, Christine Blasey Ford and her feminist attorney Debra Katz were explicitly “motivated” to target Kavanaugh in order to protect Roe v. Wade—and the accusations of sexual assault were launched in the hopes that these allegations would stick to Kavanaugh and eventually taint any future decisions on abortion.

Lovelace reveals that they worked furiously to bring the charges forward, and attempted to time their release for the end of the confirmation hearings. Just as we suspected at the time, this was a cynical attempt to tank Kavanaugh’s nomination, and the timing was chosen explicitly for that purpose. Lovelace lays out in careful detail how the accusers sent charges “up the chain” to both the media and carnivorous Senate Democrats, who were eager to portray a fairly ordinary conservative justice as an evil monster. After all, abortion has already destroyed tens of millions of lives—what was one more?

But there is now even more explicit evidence that Katz, Ford, and their legions of allies launched their campaign on behalf of the abortion industry. From the Washington Examiner:

But it is a speech Katz gave after Kavanaugh was approved in a 50-48 Senate vote where Lovelace said he found the key motivation for Ford’s tearful accusation that while in high school the federal judge attempted to rape her in a beer-fueled attack. In April this year, she spoke at the University of Baltimore’s 11th Feminist Legal Theory Conference titled “Applied Feminism and #MeToo.” Lovelace secured a video of her address and provided a clip to Secrets. In it, she said their goal was to put an “asterisk” on a prediction that Kavanaugh would rule to limit Roe v. Wade, though he had little history of attacking the 1973 decision to protect abortion.

“In the aftermath of these hearings, I believe that Christine’s testimony brought about more good than the harm misogynist Republicans caused by allowing Kavanaugh on the court. We were going to have a conservative [justice] … elections have consequences, but he will always have an asterisk next to his name. When he takes a scalpel to Roe v. Wade, we will know who he is, we know his character, and we know what motivates him, and that is important; it is important that we know, and that is part of what motivated Christine.”

Lovelace explained, “Ford’s audience was not the Senate, as Katz had previously suggested, but the American people. If they could be persuaded that Justice Kavanaugh was a predator, then they might not accept a future ruling by the five Republican-appointed justices altering the right to obtain an abortion established by Roe v. Wade. Had the Senate understood Ford’s real motivation, as described by Katz, it might have appreciated more fully the pressure that ‘organized forces’ were applying.”

And so nearly a year after the chaotic hearings that rocked America, the truth has come out, and what we suspected all along as been confirmed: Abortion activists tried to destroy Brett Kavanaugh to protect their right to destroy pre-born children. Christine Blasey Ford’s lawyer has stated, explicitly, that the attack on Kavanaugh was launched in order to taint any of his future rulings on abortion. The entire smear-job was a vile scam, and if President Donald Trump has the opportunity to appoint another Supreme Court justice before his tenure is up, we can expect things to get even more vicious.

As a shaken Kavanaugh himself said, as he surveyed the wreckage of his reputation: “This confirmation process has become a national disgrace. The Constitution gives the Senate an important role in the confirmation process, but you have replaced advice and consent with search and destroy. Since my nomination in July, there’s been a frenzy on the left to come up with something, anything to block my confirmation.”

Kavanaugh now sits on the Court—but this is far from over.

All those involved in trying to ruin this mans life needs to be prosecuted. I would want them to realize they are not above the law and us citizens are not going to let them get by with what they did.

  2. Sheila Arnold says:

Katz and Ford should be punished!!! Ford arrested for bringing false accusations against an innocent man and purjury and wasting time and money on false allegations. Ford should be required to reimburse the USA for the cost of the trial!!! Katz should be disbarred and arrested as well. Kavanaugh deserves a public apology from Ford, Katz And the Democratic party!!!!_

  3. William Dale Scott says:

There is no mention of what Christine said or accused sexual abuse oF Kavanaugh – as being false or misleading… just after it was over- that Kavanaugh would have the stain ofpublic knowledge of having attempted rape.

  4. R Bess says:

Never heard of your publication before. This is hardly a complete story, but only conjecture and innuendo, as far as I can see. If she did commit perjury I agree she should be charged. If Kavanaugh committed perjury I think he should be charged. The investigation into her story was far from complete. The answers he gave in his testimony and production of documents regarding his history were far from complete.
It was in part about Abortion. But Trump could have picked any other name off of his promise list(19 were left), but Kavanaugh, Trump has in his pocket. IMHO

This does not specifically refer to perjury, but to motive. But I highlight the book that I derived the information from (which is for sale in all major bookstores), so you can check it out for yourself if you doubt the veracity of the quotations.

  5. Sam says:

Regardless of motivations, there is absolutely no discussion of the veracity of the accusations. I see you refer to Ms. Blasey-Ford’s testimony as a “smear job” and I see commenters speaking about perjury. But, motivations and truth are far separate.

What is failed to be understood here is that Ms. Blasey-Ford could have been raped by Justice Kavanaugh and she only spoke up now as her value were sufficiently threatened. That does not in any way effect whether or not she was raped by Justice Kavanaugh.

It seems rather like a smear job on Ms. Blasey-Ford to attack her motivations, thereby attempting to undermine her information, rather than directly discussing whether or not a rapist was appointed to the Supreme Court.

The fact of the matter is that the pro life movement desperately wants to overturn Roe v Wade and they don’t care how.
