Residential schools, biological men in women’s prisons (and other stories)

A roundup of news from around the interwebs.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill yesterday to keep biological males identifying as female out of girls’ and women’s sports teams at public schools. LGBT activists, of course, are saying this is “unconscionable” to do such a thing in Pride Month (oh no—not in Pride Month) because this is their month of high holy days. The Fairness in Women’s Sports Act is one of many such laws being considered across the United States.

Sean Speer has a powerful article on the horrifying discovery of the remains of 215 children on the grounds of a Kamloops residential school, some as young as three years old. The ideology underlying the residential schools—of forcibly taking children from their parents—is a wicked one, and we should universally recognize that.

For those who don’t know much about Canada’s Indian Residential Schools, this column in the National Post is a good primer on what they were and why so many children died.

It turns out forcibly murdering millions of babies through abortion and infanticide is bad for the birthrate. Now, in a stunning reversal, China is permitting parents to have three children. The One Child Policy was abandoned in 2016 for a two-child policy; when this didn’t result in the expected upsurge in births, China loosened restrictions further.

If there’s one thing we can count on abortion activists to do, it is lie about pro-life laws. Secular Pro-Life has an excellent response to one viral lie here, titled “No, Pennsylvania is not fining women for miscarriages.” If you’ve heard that argument, it’s worth the read.

A female athlete is speaking out as it looks likely that a biological male identifying as female will be permitted to compete as a weightlifter at the Tokyo Olympics. If a man wins gold over all the women, it will be a written-for-TV end of feminism.

In the Wall Street Journal, Abigail Shrier has an article detailing the impact of biological men taking advantage of transgender ideology and getting themselves transferred to women’s prisons. An excerpt:

In Washington state…one male inmate who transferred into the women’s prison was a serial killer of women. “They might as well go ahead and start dropping the women off at San Quentin or Pelican Bay or one of the hard-core men’s prisons,” Ms. Griffin said. She added that women inside the prison are looking for ways to arm themselves. “They made it into a more of a war zone, to me, because I know women who are like, ‘I refuse to live with a man, and if I have to make me a prison knife to defend myself, then I’m going to do that.’ . . . I mean, you know how strong men are. Imagine one woman trying to defend herself against this big ol’ man, and the men coming in, they are like 6-foot-5, 6-foot-6, 300 pounds. These men look like Hercules compared to these little women. Can you fault the woman for actually trying to defend herself?”
