The Trump-Biden era GOP is a very different beast. President Reagan was unquestionably on our side and regularly used his platform to support the pro-life cause, but many of the advisors he surrounded himself with were not. This continued into the Bush-Obama era, with pro-life leaders given the worst seats at the 2012 Republican National Convention. But now, pro-life leaders like Marjorie Dannenfelser were in President Trump’s inner circle. While I’m sure we’re still about to find out who our friends really are, I think most of the Republicans that pretended to be anti-Roe while secretly not wanting it to be overturned permanently left the party over Trump.
I’m hoping that’s the case. And it is a little-known fact that Mitch McConnell isn’t even fully pro-life, but is still primarily responsible for the current Court’s makeup.
