Conservatives are allergic to anything even remotely looking like social issues, having ceded the abortion issue to the left as shouting “muh ‘borshuns!” has been enough to win Liberals many elections. Euthanasia is the same way, an objection to any single aspect of the practice will lead to attack ads full of sob stories about terminally ill people that need to be killed by a doctor (and fearmongering about abortion for good measure). The Liberals are in bed with Dying with Dignity and fully support expanding Justin Trudeau’s euthanasia programs and allowing doctors to kill people experiencing mental illness, but they know this position is repulsive so they’ll be coy about it and kick the can down the road as long as they can. The other parties aren’t really worth talking about because they aren’t going to come in first or second. Also, the UN is a corrupt and useless organization so most Canadians aren’t going to care what they think.
