Conservative MP clarifies his stance on “conversion therapy” ban

With the decision of Conservative leader Erin O’Toole earlier this month to push forward a motion to fast-track Trudeau’s so-called conversion therapy ban and grant it unanimous consent despite it being an incredibly dangerous piece of legislation, many were left stunned that not a single MP stood up to oppose it. Dozens opposed the same bill prior to the election–the only changes that have been made since rendered Bill C-4 significantly worse than Bill C-6. Many social conservatives feel betrayed and have been saying so.

Yesterday, the head of the Parliamentary Pro-Life Caucus and MP from the riding of Peace River-Westlock Arnold Viersen released a statement explaining what happened from his perspective. He apologized for not standing up at the time and reaffirmed his previous position. It takes humility for a politician to publicly apologize, and the other Members of Parliament who presumably still oppose Bill C-4 but didn’t stand up should follow his lead. Right now, it looks to many like they have changed their minds on the issue. Here is Viersen’s statement, and here is ARPA Canada’s response to it.

“It was a surprise that caught me and some of my colleagues off guard…”. Really- it sneaked up on you when you weren’t looking…. and there was nothing every single Conservative could do. O’Toole has you bewitched… all of you.

Mr. Viersen, you should also hold your Party Leader, Erin O’Toole accountable as well for not raising this in the House. At least that is my understanding. We need a Conservative Party Leader, not a Liberal in Conservative clothing.

I was born in german. This reminds about what my parents told us about how communism starts. They will not stop with this bill. Wake up Canada!

This is the Satan agenda to under mind the need for Spiritual help. I have looked into this matter in the Charter of rights. And the gay community have been protected under the same section as we are protected. Under religion; this means being gay is a freedom of religion matter. Trudeau is wrong and is ignorant of right and wrong. Look up this matter in Canada’s Charter of Rights.
