Every satiric conservative joke becomes a progressive dogma if you just wait fifteen minutes. The LGBT revolution is moving so swiftly these days that even the most devout allies have a hard time keeping up, as poor Justin Trudeau recently discovered.
Trudeau, as most of you will know, has spent much time scampering about and flaunting his feminism, which is of the “I’ll support feticide and feel you up” variety. As I’ve noted before, nobody in the prime ministerial history of Canada has been as enthusiastic about abortion as Justin Trudeau is, and he has both relentlessly promoted abortion at home (most recently withholding health care funds from New Brunswick during a pandemic because they have declined to fund a private abortion clinic) and abroad.
And so Trudeau thought he was treading on safe, well-worn territory when he tweeted (for the thousandth time) that he is a big fan of abortion: “The right to choose is a woman’s right and a woman’s right alone. Every woman in Canada has a right to a safe and legal abortion. It’s time men stop telling other men that it’s ok for them to decide what women can or cannot do with their bodies.” There is an election coming up, and he needed to remind everyone what he’s doing to keep the birthrate down (or something.)
Notice the problem there? Trudeau has forgotten that men also get abortions—because its 2021, that’s why. A couple of pro-life activists even made the joke that Trudeau was obviously transphobic because he’d forgotten his lines—why, he’s probably only a couple of pieces of Trudeau legislation away from committing a hate crime! But, because its 2021, the joke promptly became reality, and the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada posted a screenshot of the tweet to Facebook to condemn the prime minister’s bigoted use of terms that they themselves had used several minutes before they were enlightened to the pandemic of pregnant men we have been experiencing of late.
“This logic reinforces a gender binary that harms people who are seeking abortion services,” ARCC said severely.
What a joke.
Credit where it’s due, they refuse to erase pro-life women and they acknowledge that it’s hypocritical to lionize Henry Morgentaler while declaring that men get no say in the abortion debate.
