The city council of the small township of Norwich, Ontario has voted to restrict flags on township property to the federal, provincial, and municipal flags, enraging LGBT activists who insist that the Pride flag must be flown. In response, councillors noted that flying flags that unite everyone rather than flags that are divisive was best for the community. The council also voted, 4-1, against declaring June “Pride Month” in Oxford County. The Oxford Pride organization is launching a human rights complaint because it is, apparently, a human right to have the flag that represents your ideology flown on government property. They are demanding that the policy be rescinded, an apology from council, and rainbow crosswalk in the town.
